They’re at it again. After removing and shuffling some executives who obviously didn’t agree with the idea, they’re talking again. What would this mean for Google? A single competitor to aim at and squash. As Microhoo or Yasoft would obviously not get it. They would just have a portal full of crap and spam, that doesn’t really deliver anything for people that truly use the Internet for productivity. The Yasoft site would just be another fluff site…

Microsoft, Yahoo in tie-up talks: report – Breaking – Technology – smh.com.au US software giant Microsoft and web portal Yahoo have revived talks to explore a merger or alliance, a newspaper reported Friday. Citing people familiar with the situation, The Wall Street Journal said that executives at Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc. appeared to be in early-stage discussions to take "a fresh look at a merger of the two companies or some kind of match-up that would pair their companies’ respective strengths." A year ago, the two companies had explored the idea of combining to form a greater competitor to search-engine giant Google Inc., but the talks "led nowhere," the paper recalled.
