US frustrated at lack of Iraqi reconciliation – Financial Times

US frustrated at lack of Iraqi reconciliation – Financial Times – The Iraqi government has not made any substantial progress on political reconciliation since the US military surge began, the top US commander in Iraq warned on Sunday. The US surge was intended to provide the Iraqi government with breathing space to implement political reforms aimed at reducing tensions between Shia, Sunni and Kurdish groups. But US officials and military officers have become increasingly frustrated with the inability of the government to make progress.

Here in America we can’t get political or racial reconciliation and this is a country "high" on morals and is prosperous. So the administration expects to have this in a war torn country with warring cultures and religions and an occupying force? Hmm, must be part of the do as I say – not as I do doctrine.
