Very important article to read and understand where the revenue goes for streaming music services. not the artists nor the streaming companies themselves. Its all about the labels where the vast majority of the profits go. so when you hear folks complain about music steaming services harming the artists, send them to this article

I think it has been well established since the dawn of recorded music that the label is the King. The label is the first to eat from the dinner table. The Artist is usually the last to eat. When are Artist going to get it and do something about it? In today’s world, there are no excuses for an artist not to be in control of their financial destiny. We may think Toby Keith or Garth Brooks doing their own distribution is crazy. However, I think both of them are doing way better taking the majority of the revenue than forking it over to the King. Artist who are not active in the ownership-recording-distribution-accounting of their art are just lazy and deserve to have their money pick-pocketed from them.
