Soldiers still waiting for armor reimbursements – Conflict in Iraq – MSNBC.com

You know, this is getting really, really pathetic. Soldiers are purchasing their own equipment to take to Iraq because our $540Bbn defense package cannot provied for them.
A soldier is owed, yes owed, four things:
1. training
2. resources
3. mission statement and role
4. timeline

And we’ve missed the boat on all four marks

Trent Lott Comment

This is from a while back when good ‘ol Trent did an interview on NPR. “The government should not provide for people that can provide for themselves” Well Trent, you live in the south, and you know the reason why those people can’t provide for themselves. And those acts are still being comitted today, no doubt you’ve witnessed some, and chose to do…..nothing.

General Motors to Close 12 North American Locations

GM, voted the ugliest and blandest car manufacturer in the world, is now closing a dozen facilities due to lower sales. As people leave Iowa and Nebraska, you can sell only so many Buicks and Suburbans…
Here’s a tip for future growth and how to accomplish a rebound. Hire some new architects that think outside that stale box. Bring in some new engineers that can build a car with quality in mind. Nobody ever bought a Toyota wondering if the transmission would make it to 100K miles. Next, try some marketing, bundle your services into one package. Set the life expectancy of a vehicle at 15 years, then charge a monthly fee for all routine service and warranties within that 15 year period. Think of it, provide the customer with piece of mind and the perception of a safety net, along with some modern designs, and your bean coundter will have a new job, how to shelter the profits offshore vs. how many jobs to cut.

Scotsman.com News – International – Terror suspects held in secret CIA prisons

Scotsman.com News – International – Terror suspects held in secret CIA prisons
SENIOR al-Qaeda members are being held in top-secret CIA- operated “black site” prisons across the world, it has emerged.

According to anonymous CIA sources quoted by the Washington Post, the agency has been transporting the captives to secret facilities in a number of countries for interrogation.

I just have to ask, does this not bother anyone? The CIA has secret prisons, outside the jurisdiction of our judicial system. I guess I need to be carefull about what I post on my blog, because with the resources they apparently have, they would make the former KGB look like the United Way.

The TTA Regional Rail, are they out of touch?

Can someone tell me what these folks are thinking?

First, we’re gonna deploy a train running on diesel. What about electricity? Next, this train will run rampant through downtown Cary to pick up absolutely nobody, then totally bypass the airport, the most logical stop for any commuter rail system. Any city that has a rail system, and common sense with regards to management and growth, has rail service to the airport. But noooo, not the Triangle Transit Authority, they’re going to put stops in where people won’t ride it (drive around Cary, you’ll understand), and not go to where it would most benefit people.

CNN.com – 'Bomb Jazeera' memo: Media warned – Nov 23, 2005

Why am I not surprised that a conversation like this might have taken place. Bomb a prominent Arab news agency located within the borders of one of your strongest Arab alies. So, apparently in April 2004, Tony Blair and George Bush had a conversation where Mr. Blair talked Curious George out of an air strike against Al-Jazerra.

Let’s not forget that Al-Jazeera facilities in Afghanistan and Iraq have already been hit, most likely an accident. CBS and CNN better watch out. Fox News is safe …

Sock it to your IPod !!!

ipodsockHow about a custom sock to put your Ipod in. Only $29 for a six pack. But oddly, none of the colors match so you can have a pair in case you have an emergency and need to cover your feet, which would obviously stretch the sock. Read the customer reviews on from the Apple website here. Apparently, people that have bought them were expecting a lot more for @29.

My favorite comment from the site:
“I would want to tell people that think that these socks are nothing but a waste of money that they should reconsider. I have bought these the same time i bought my iPod from the only Apple dedicated reseller in Romania and they are soooo great! I can… Read more > take my iPod out for a walk and, if i end up in a fast food restaurant and i want to take him out of my pocket, i don’t have to worry about dirt and scratches. And if the socks get dirty, i can always put them in the washing machine 🙂 Speaking of which, i shoud really wash my green sock tommorow 😀 “
