Let me be clear, I don’t care about the Comcast and TWC merger, if it happens or doesn’t. I don’t care who owns who, if there are 100 providers or one provider.
What I do care about is that I just want one service from a broadband provider and that is an open, net-neutral broadband connection at a market or regulated price, free of obstruction, equal access to all content creators, and free of caps. Essentially, I want what the internet was intended to be.
So, what you need is competition. Until then, your Cable/Internet provider will continue to squeeze the dog-shit out of your service to increase their prices.
The cable companies are not your friend!
You will never get the open service level until there’s competition. Comcast is now putting limits on the Internet bandwidth in some markets if you don’t have cable service as well.
Keep dreaming for Internet Utopia!
Oh, I know. Guess I was just doing wishful thinking. At some point, the FCC just needs to do what is right and use the power they were given in the 1996 Telecom Reform Act and label ISP’s and cableco’s as common carriers. That way, broadband can be regulated and open.
