McCain Pre-Palin: Mayors And Governors Can't Handle National Security

Oh when, oh when will the hypocrisy ever end with this guy? Straight from the grumpy old guy himself, his words, in text and on video in the primary debate, McCain absolutely slammed Mitt Romney and that Rudy guy for being one term governors and mayors, declaring that they are not able to do the job due to the lack of their experience. Now all of a sudden, Palin is qualified to fill in for the top spot because she’s a one term mayor and governor. The Obama campaign ought to run this Youtube clip as a political ad, showing the hypocrisy.

When does being a governor or mayor for a short period of time not disqualify your credentials on national security? When you are John McCain and your task is to defend your vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. When does being a governor or mayor for a short period of time ABSOLUTELY disqualify your credentials on national security? When you are John McCain and your task is to defeat primary opponents Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani.Back in October 2007, when McCains candidacy still appeared dead and buried, the Senator berated the two Republican front runners for lacking the necessary political experience to handle commander in chief responsibilities.”I have had a strong and a long relationship on national security, Ive been involved in every national crisis that this nation has faced since Beirut, I understand the issues, I understand and appreciate the enormity of the challenge we face from radical Islamic extremism,” the Senator declared. “I am prepared. I am prepared. I need no on-the-job training. I wasnt a mayor for a short period of time. I wasnt a governor for a short period of time.”

The Large Hadron Collider LHC

Here’s a Youtube clip on how the LHC works. Very simple to follow and understand. This is truly a marvel of science and there are many discoveries to be made, quite possibly helping us understand our origins. I guess this is why it could never be built in the US. The flat earth society would never permit that. To me there is no conflict between the creation of the universe and accepting the creation by God. Frankly, God created the universe, but it doesn’t mean that I can’t learn and understand how s(he) did it. If you think about it. the big bang is the equivalent of God snapping his finger, no?

Lehman for sale in rush to try to salvage struggling firm – MarketWatch

Ok, this is a perfect example of capitalism run amok. Reward with risk. Profit without loss. Here we have lehman Bros. putting itself up for sale and there are possible buyers. But Lehman has some bad debt. So….buyers that are worried about the trouble assets want the taxpayer to foot the bill on any further looses they run into as a result of the purchase. Their kind words are "ask the gov’t to help backstop any future losses". What that means is if anything else goes under at Lehman after we purchase them, you cover it, no risk on our part. So what if Lehman goes under A lot of rich people loose some money. It’s not as though the money is really lost in the market, it just changed hands from person to another and someone got stuck with a hot potato(e).

Heck, for that matter, maybe I should jum in and make a bid for Lehman. I don’t have to worry about any losses adn I can probably get the gov’t to fund the purchase too. What a deal.

Potential buyers remain wary about troubled assets on Lehman’s balance sheet and are increasingly looking to the U.S. government to help backstop any future losses, the Journal said.

Former GOP senator calls Palin a ‘cocky wacko’

Finally, a republican that breaks ranks from the drum machine and says what's on his mind. All we need now is for Chris Rock to stand up and say…." That's one Craaaazy Bi***". Seriously, there are many in the party with, at a minimum, reservations about that crazy wacko and her absurdly extreme right beliefs. I mean, she's so far right, there's conservatives saying, "huh?"

Her speech about it beings gods will for us to being Iraq and against a woman's right to choose an abortion if she was raped. Frankly, she's scary and with her being one heartbeat from the presidency, that's a problem. Let's face it, McCain has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel, I don't think he would serve both terms, he has too many health issues.

And what about family values? Yup, here I go, I'm going there. I'm not running for office so I can speak my mind. Family values? Explain family values to me when you have a 17 year old, unwed pregnant daughter. Nobody want's to touch that subject. All of a sudden, it's no issue with the right. If Obama or Biden had an unwed pregnant teenage daughter, there would be no end to the uproar and brimstone about the lack of family values. Palin doesn't believe in teaching sex education in schools, just the abstanence message. And when that message fails? Well in their case, no big deal. She's a govornor, she has connections. She can hire a full time nanny to help out and raise the baby. The daughter doesn't have to go out to work, get two jobs and struggle to buy formula.

There's two types of conservatives in this world. Those who pass judgement on others, and those who don't receive judgement when it's themselves (if that makes sense). I wonder if the daughter really decided on her own to have the baby. I really wonder. I can just imagine that conversation. Palin probably pointed her Bushmaster M17  at her and said, "go ahead, make my day". Note: a Bushmaster M17 is an American Assault rifle. I would have referenced the German HK G36 but that would be unpatriotic while writing this post about a conservative. And speaking of unpatriotic, Obama gets critized about not wearing a flag pin whild Palin is wearing glasses designed in Korea. KOREA, the country next to North Korea. Guilt by association. So see? she's tied to the communists, she's really part of the axis of evil !!!

CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive – Former GOP senator calls Palin a ‘cocky wacko’ « – Blogs from CNN.com Former Rhode Island Sen. Lincoln Chafee was known for keeping a low-key profile on Capitol Hill, but the Republican -turned -Independent is making waves with his exceedingly blunt comments on newly-minted Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin: She's a "cocky wacko," he told a Washington think tank earlier this week. Chafee, the lone Senate Republican to vote against the Iraq war who endorsed Obama's White House bid earlier this year, told an audience at the New America Foundation in Washington Tuesday that Palin's selection has energized Obama backers. "People were coming into my office, phone calls were flooding in, e-mails were coming in, 'I just sent money to Obama, I couldn't sleep last night' — from the left. To see this cocky wacko up there," he said. He also described McCain's candidacy as "lackluster” and described the selection of Palin as a throwing "this firestorm, this tornado, into the whole presidential election." Chafee, whose father served as senator from Rhode Island from 1976 until his death in 1999, narrowly lost his re-election bid two years ago to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse amid that election cycle’s wave of anti-Republican sentiment. Chafee made a stir earlier this year when he directly called out Democrats who supported the Iraq war and were now expressing regret for their vote. “I find it surprising now, in 2008, how many Democrats are running for president after shirking their constitutional duty to check and balance this president,” he wrote in his January 2008 book, “Against the Tide.” “Being wrong about sending Americans to kill and be killed, maim and be maimed, is not like making a punctuation mistake in a highway bill."

What's a few trillion more …

With the national debt at an estimated $70 trillion, yes trillion, what's 5T more. So now that we've bailed out Fannie and Freddie, we're just going to asume their debt and risks, to pay back the investors who knew their business was not sustainable in the first place.

Bloomberg.com: Exclusive The Bush administration is considering whether to fold Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's $5.2 trillion in debt into the federal budget, the White House budget office and the U.S. Treasury Department said. “We're discussing how to present this in the federal budget with Treasury and stakeholders right now, but a conclusion hasn't been determined,'' said Corinne Hirsch, a spokeswoman for the Office of Management and Budget. The Government Accounting Office and other federal agencies are also weighing in on the issue.

Northrop Grumman Receives $5.1B Navy Welfare Check

Another aircraft carrier? Where is this one going to be deployed, Lake Ontario? I mean, come on, we already have enough airspace coverage and air superiority. What we really need to invest in is the ground troops, their technology and equipment. Another aircraft carrier is not going to help route out terrorists from their caves. Only ground troops with proper intelligence can do that.

Ahead of the Bell: Northrop Grumman gets Navy deal – Forbes.com Shares of Northrop Grumman Corp., which just suffered a serious setback in its high-stakes battle against rival Boeing Co. for a lucrative Air Force tanker contract, could see increased activity Thursday after the Navy awarded the military contractor a $5.1 billion deal to build an aircraft carrier. On Wednesday the Pentagon again delayed plans to award a $35 billion contract for 179 Air Force refueling planes, handing a victory to defense contractor Boeing (nyse: BA – news – people ). Although earlier this year the Defense Department awarded the tanker contract to Northrop and its partners, a General Accountability Office report found flaws in the decision. Since then Boeing and its congressional supporters have exerted heavy – and successful – pressure on the Pentagon to defer a decision. Within a few hours of the Defense Department’s announcement Wednesday, the Navy separately said it was awarding Los Angeles-based Northrop Grumman (nyse: NOC – news – people ) a $5.1 billion contract to build the USS Gerald R. Ford

Raleigh ranking high for the wrong reasons

In Depth: Cities With The Worst Pain At the Pump – Forbes.com

 No. 8: Raleigh, N.C.

$6.10 Per Commuter Per Day

Raleigh is a victim of its own success–one of the country's fastest-growing cities, it lacks the infrastructure to handle the number of cars on the road. Residents here are delayed on average 35 hours a year in peak traffic, according to the Texas Transportation Institute. That may not sound like much, but those delays are comparable to Philadelphia, which has more than five times as many commuters. Even with gas priced at $3.59, 87% of commuters drive alone to work.

So as we continue to let developers run amok and have poor planning for infrastructure that lacks a pay as you go strategy, one of the greatest places to live in America will soon turn to one of the most frustrating places to live in America. With my previous job, I had to commute from my town of Garner to RTP, a 26 mile trek that at times took over an hour in rush hour traffic. My options? None really, telecommuting wasn't really supported because most of management lived down Hwy55 and assumed everyone lived in Cary/Apex off of Hwy55. If I was to take public transportation, I would first have to drive to downtown Raleigh, then catch a bus to sit on I40 and take twice as long. The solution, I found a new job that supports telecommuting fulltime. I was lucky, most people don't have that option. If the Triangle area doesn't adopt a more rational urban planning model that supports central residential and commercial districts, and a light rail system and cycling routes, they may find that what attracted people here may not be as compelling as to what may make them want to leave.
